Most people who struggle financially are not making bad decisions.
They are making reasonable decisions inside systems they were never shown how to read.
The budget that works on paper and collapses by the third week of the month. The savings account that feels responsible and earns almost nothing while the bank lends that same dollar at twenty times the rate. The credit score that drops after a card is paid off and closed. The mortgage approval that felt like validation and turned out to be one income disruption away from unmanageable.
None of these outcomes required a mistake. They required participation in a system whose design was never explained.
The Design Literacy Series is built around one question that most financial content never asks: who built these systems, for whom, and what are they actually optimized to do?
The answer changes every financial conversation a household has.
Ten essays. Five financial systems. One framework that applies to all of them.
The Book Behind the Series
This series draws from Core Money Skills, the first book in the Financial Literacy Basics pillar of the Generational Wealth Engine — a publishing project under the Wisdom Keep brand authored by Nathaniel Vale.
Core Money Skills goes significantly further than the series. Where the essays introduce the design logic of each financial system, the book builds out the full analytical framework, the named models households can apply to their own financial architecture, and the prescriptive standards that turn understanding into a functioning household system.
The book is in active development. When it publishes, readers of this series will already have the foundation it is built on. The series is the map. The book is the terrain guide.
Updates on the publication timeline will be posted here.
What This Is Not
This is not motivational content. There are no exhortations to spend less, save more, or work harder. The series does not assume the reader lacks discipline. It assumes the reader was never given a map of the terrain they are already navigating.
This is not a product pitch. No affiliate links. No sponsored content. No advertising. The analysis stands on its own.
This is not a summary of other people’s financial advice. Every argument in this series is built from primary sources, original framework, and documented outcomes.
How This Is Written
Each essay leads with observation before explanation. The reader sees the pattern before it is named. The structural argument arrives as confirmation of something the reader has already recognized, not as a lecture delivered from a position of authority.
The register is analytical throughout. The voice observes, reconstructs, and documents. It does not coach, encourage, or moralize.
All claims tied to specific figures or named sources are verified before publication. Research holds are cleared before any essay publishes.
The Series

Placement Within Wisdom Keep
The Design Literacy Series is the public content layer of the Generational Wealth Engine canon, published under the Financial Literacy Basics pillar. It draws from the manuscript Core Money Skills and makes the book’s central analytical framework available to a general audience before the book reaches publication.
The series operates independently of the book. Each essay stands alone. Familiarity with the book is not required to read any post in the series.
If the work this series covers surfaces questions about your own financial structure, estate design, or how to build and protect what your household has built, the Estate Planning Blueprint Masterclass addresses the structural layer behind those decisions. Registration is open.
